Dawn was approaching in the last few frames. Note the mushroom cap like hood of the outer coma and the short tail.

NEOCP object 04F0011 from 2010 04 17 ut. Stack of 75x120 sec for a total exposure of 2.5 hours, tracked on the motion vector of the object. Images of Comet 29P Schwassmann-Wachmann from Jan 27 (pre-outburst) at 15.8 to 14th mag, Feb 4 (in outburst)at 11.9 to 10.9 mag and Feb 11 (fading but growing in size) at 12.0 to 11.6 mag, all dates UT. Images are 15x2 minute stacks. On 2/11 there was an 11.8 mag star to the upper left of the coma producing the visible asymetry. Images by Dr. D. T. Durig and his students.

Comet LINEAR 217P from Oct 1 UT as the Moon was setting. Stacks of 10xtwo minute exposures tracked on the motion of the comet. Notice how more and more of the comet's coma becomes visible as the Moon sets (and the comet gets higher in the sky). Images by Dr. D. T. Durig.
